You can create two kinds of links in the Create Links pane of the HTML Author dialog: hyperlinks and anchors. Hyperlinks can be thought of as the jumping off points from your HTML document to somewhere else, while an anchor is one type of destination to which a hyperlink can jump.
Hyperlinks
To create a hyperlink, first select the text or inline graphic that you wish to be the hyperlink location, and then open the HTML Author dialog box. (You can only create one hyperlink or anchor each time you bring up the HTML Author dialog box.) In the HTML Author dialog box, make sure Hyperlink is chosen in the Create pop-up menu, and then choose the service type you are linking to from the Link Type pop-up menu. This text will appear in the Enter URL text box. Complete the URL definition by typing in the name of the server and the path to the document to which you are linking.
To link to an anchor you have defined, choose Link to Anchor from the Link Type pop-up. From the list of anchors that appears, click the anchor you wish to link to, and then click Create.
Tip: If you have a World Wide Web browser on your computer you may be able to go to the location to which you are creating a hyperlink in PageMaker and then copy the link to the Enter URL text box.
Anchors
To create an anchor, select the text or graphics that you want to use as the anchor. You can select any object on the page with either the pointer or text tool. In the HTML Author dialog box, choose Anchor from the Create pop-up menu, enter a name for the anchor, and then click Create.
Note: In this version of HTML Author, anchors must be in the same HTML document as the hyperlink that jumps to them. Thus, if you have defined pages 1 through 3 as a single HTML document, you can create links on those pages to any anchors that exist on pages 1 through 3, but not to anchors that exist on other pages.
